Roles Reversed As Elephants Down Bulls

Elephants 3 Bulls 1 (Taichung)

For the second time in two nights a fine starting performance was undone by shoddy relieving late in the game, but this time it was the Elephants who emerged victorious.

Bulls starter Yang Chien-Fu gave up three hits and no runs over eight innings leaving Shingo Takatsu to close out the game. The Japanese reliever struggled in the ninth however, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks. Brother outfielder Zhou Si-Qi drove in the tying and winning runs with a triple, making amends for a terrible throw to the plate in the bottom of the eighth that let the Bulls easily score their only run.

Elephants starter Orlando Roman also had an excellent game, giving up two hits while striking out ten in 7 2/3 innings of work.

Lions 1 Bears 5 (Kaohsiung)

Bears slugger Lin Zhi-Sheng became the CPBL's fastest player to hit 100 career home runs when he launched a solo shot in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one. The Bears went on to add four more runs in the third, chasing Lions starter Chen Yi-Chen in the process.

Bears starter Chris Mason picked up his first win of the season, scattering six hits across 6 1/3 innings.
